District 9
I joined the crew at Image Engine for District 9 fairly late in post production to help out with building some of the most complicated clothing assets in the film. Building Christopher Johnsons outfit was one of the tasks I was set to. His red jacket and yellow pants had to hold up in extreme closeups without ever making the audience feel these were cg clothes. Not only did it have to look real, but also has to move and deform in a realitic manner. Thefefor a great amount of folds and creases were modeled into the mesh instead of sculpted onto the model through displacement maps.Modeling was done was done in Maya. Minor details and smaller creases were added later in ZBrush.
